REAHL (Recovery Education and Action for Healthy Living) is a program that addresses the growing opiod crisis, focused on children who are affected by either its presence in their family or the usage.
Materials for this event had to be calming. Preferably a little bright or optimistic without being dismissive and appearing very grounded because the district was confronting a huge and somber issue. The subject was a painful one and there was a thin line to tread.
There was also a need to give participating students some swag that they can take home that will not make them targets for bullying at school. This is why I designed a journal with the logo subtly pressed into the cover.
The background we chose was a road down a forest to signify that the participant may be lost but there is a pathway they could follow. The photo was taken in Oregon and the trees are familiar to our students here. The name REAHL was placed in the center with the colors saturated behind it to show there is hope and a brighter future.
The credibility gained from the resulting suite of materials and the hard work the REAHL team put to developing connections gave us many new sponsors and the program was able to launch.
